Distinctives
Multiply everything.
We are committed to being healthy disciples and churches as modeled by the disciples in the gospels and the Book of Acts.
To this end, we see the practices of the Early Church found in Acts 2:36-47 as being our example and model to follow including the twelve practices seen above:
* The sharing of the gospel
* Repentance
* Baptism
* Holy Spirit
* Word
* Fellowship
* Lord’s Supper
* Prayer
* Expectation of the miraculous
* Radical generosity
* Worship
* Multiplication of disciplesFollowers of Jesus. Fishers of people.
Jesus called his first disciples into an identity that had two parts:
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” – Mark 1:17
* Following – our identity as those that follow Jesus is as those that are obedient followers that practice what He modeled by the power and leading of the Holy Spirit
* Fishing – our identity also includes being fishers of people as those that share the good news of Jesus with the lost around us.Every people and place in Metro New York.
The primary mission of the Church is stated in Matthew 28:18-20 ––
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
* Go and make disciples. Our mission must be to make disciples not converts who know how to obey all that Jesus has commanded.
* Of all nations. Our vision and strategy must be shaped by the call to reach all nations. The vision to reach all nations leads us to the model of Jesus who made and multiplied disciples, leaders, and churches.
* Baptizing them. We release disciples to become those that baptize others, thereby releasing the ministry of Jesus (eg. John 4:1-2)
* Teaching them to obey. Our methods and process must connect disciples to God by His Spirit and train them to obey or put into practice all that Jesus commands.
